Walter R. Kugler, 83, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away on April 9, 2017. He was born on
September 20, 1933, the son of Reinhold and Gertrude (Kunze) Kugler.
Walter was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, NY. He has been living in Plymouth Meeting for 52 years. He earned his undergraduate degree from Stevens Institute of Technology and his Master's from Penn State University, both in Mechanical Engineering.
Over Walter’s 40 year career at General Electric/Lockheed Martin he worked in several divisions on a multitude of varying projects such as refrigeration, re-entry systems, Bio Fuel, eco-friendly temporary housing, satellites, and propulsion for interplanetary probes. He also has multiple patents for oil water separators and other technologies.
Walter was a coach for Plymouth Township basketball, softball, and soccer as well as American Legion Baseball. His favorite sport teams were the Brooklyn Dodgers and NY (football) Giants. He also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Walter is survived by his wife, Florence (Gebhardt) Kugler of Plymouth Meeting; Son, Douglas (& Patricia) Kugler of Collegeville; Daughter, Elaine (& Bruce) Weinsteiger of Spring City; Son, Gary (& Mary) Kugler of Gainesville, VA; as well as four grandchildren, Alexandra, Ryan, Lena, and Tia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Monday, April 17, 2017 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
A reception celebrating Walter’s life will follow the Visitation. Interment will be private.
