Dr. Becker has been living in East Norriton since 1966. He had a strong faith and faithfully attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Dr. Becker earned his Ph.D. and practiced as a clinical psychologist at Norristown State Hospital from 1966 until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the American Psychological Association. He enjoyed scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Dr. Becker enjoyed breeding rabbits and was a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, Rex National Rabbit Breeders, and the Mason Dixon Rex Rabbit Club. He raised champion pedigree rabbits and developed a new color in the rex breed, Amber. Dr. Becker enjoyed traveling and hunting. He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors at his cabin in Potter County with his family.

Obituary of Paul Walter Becker

Dr. Paul Walter Becker, "Skip", 76, of East Norriton, PA passed away on March 29, 2017. He was born in Madison, WI on May 9, 1940, the son of the late Margaret (Fischer) and Paul F. Becker. Skip enjoyed scouting and earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1954. He was the drummer for "The Flat-Tops", a swing music big band from 1955-1959. He was proud of the 1954 and 1956 Corvettes he owned. Skip earned his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin in 1962 with a dual major of Psychology and Chemistry. He then went on to attend Ohio University where he earned his M.S. in Psychology in 1964 and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1967. Skip completed his Clinical Internship at the Norristown State Hospital from 1966-1967. Skip authored 12 publications in Psychological Research Journals. He was a member of the National Register of Heath Service Providers. Skip was licensed for Professional Private Practice of Psychology from 1968 – 2001. Skip went on to work as a Senior Staff Psychologist and Unit Administrator from 1968 – 2001 at the Norristown State Hospital while continuing his private practice. He has been living in East Norriton since 1966. He had a strong faith and faithfully attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He read through the Bible 25 times. His hobbies included gardening and hunting in Germania. Skip enjoyed breeding rabbits and was a Life Member of both the American Rabbit Breeders Association and the Mason Dixon Rex Rabbit Club. He served as a member of the Standards Committee for the Rex National Rabbit Breeders. He raised champion pedigree rabbits and developed a new variety in the rex breed, Amber, which was approved in 2008. Skip is the beloved husband of 43 years to Rev. Marianne (Ritchie) Becker of East Norriton. He saw being married to an ordained minister as the source of many spiritual blessings and attributed his marriage to keeping him on the straight and narrow path. In addition to his wife, he is survived by Two sons, Eric ( & Amber) Becker of Leesburg, VA, and Todd ( & Lauren) Becker of Haverhill, MA; Sister, Shirle Stouffer of Colorado; As well as seven grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Becker. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 6 Hancock Ave, Norristown, PA 19401. Friends may call on Saturday, May 20 from 9:00 – 10:45 AM at the Church. Interment will be private.
