Obituary of Basil B. Varian

Basil B. Varian, age 83, of Collegeville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 16, 1933, the son of Basil B. Varian, Sr. and Elizabeth (Rappe) Varian. Basil has been living in Worcester Township since 1978, formerly of Glenwood Ave. in Collegeville. He was a long time member of Warren Lodge 310 F. & A. M. of Collegeville. Basil was a faithful member of Saint James Episcopal Church of Collegeville. At St. James, he was a member of the choir for 45 years, served as Coordinator of Worship Leaders for 25 years, and had also served on the Vestry. Basil retired in 1995 after a long career with the U.S. Postal Service as a Dispatch Expeditor at Southeastern. Basil is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jane (Collins) Varian of Collegeville; Three sons, Basil ( & Brenda) Varian, Jr. of Collegeville, Steven ( & Madeline) Varian of Douglassville, and Mark ( & Joyce) Varian of Pasadena, TX. He is also survived by three grandsons, Devon, Shane, and Nolan Varian. His Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 12 Noon at St. James Episcopal Church, 3768 Germantown Pike, Collegeville, PA 19426. Fr. Michael Sowards will officiate. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
