He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of St. Sylvester Council 6194 of Brooklyn, NY. William volunteered at Pottstown Hospital and was also active in local politics.

Obituary of William J. Zerillo

William J. Zerillo, 96, of Trappe, PA passed away on July 28, 2017. He was born on November 20, 1920, Joseph and Gertrude (Selkowitz) Zerillo. Bill has been living in Trappe since 1993, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, where he was born and raised. He and his late wife were the developers of the "Penny People" in New York, collecting money for people with Down Syndrome. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and Past Grand Knight of St. Sylvester Council 6194 of Brooklyn, NY. Bill volunteered at Pottstown Hospital and was also active in local politics. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the beloved husband of the late Carmela "Ann" Zerillo. Survivors include his son, James W. Zerillo of Trappe; Sister, Helen Sullivan; Four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Liberta "Libby" Gatt; son in law, Fred Gatt; granddaughter, Laurie Anne Gatt; four brothers and two sisters. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 8:00 PM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe, PA 19426; 610-489-7900. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to: National Down Syndrome Society, 8 E 41st Street, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10017.
