Obituary of Betty M. Whitley

Betty M. (Hinkle) Whitley, 79, of Norristown, PA passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017. Born in Milam, WV on March 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Robert F. & Erma (Mongold) Hinkle. Betty has been living in West Norriton since 1980, formerly of Harrisonburg, VA. Betty graduated from the University of Virginia School of Nursing in 1959 and worked as a registered nurse with Montgomery Hospital for 17 years. She was a member of Norriton Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed photography, gardening and was known for her great cooking. Betty loved to attend UVA Football games with her husband, Reece, and was a passionate Wahoo. She was incredibly kind, funny and lived for her family. Betty will be sadly missed by her family and is survived by her husband Reece Whitley of Norristown, PA; her daughter Theresa (& Christopher) Campbell of Landisville, PA; her son Michael Whitley of Tehachapi, CA; and her brothers Robert (& Nancy) Hinkle of Broadway, VA and Carroll (& Rebecca) Hinkle of Harrisonburg, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tarra, John, Scott, Mark & Lauren, and three great grandchildren, Colin, John Reece & Jaxen. Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Norriton Presbyterian Church, 608 North Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403. Friends may call on Saturday Morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in her memory to: Norriton Presbyterian Church, 608 North Trooper Road, Norristown, PA 19403.
