Obituary of James P. Johnson

James P. Johnson of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, March 22, 2013 with his family by his side. Jim was born Sept. 1, 1931 in Ashland, Pa., to the late Bertrand and Eleanor (Kiehl) Johnson. He was 81. Jim proudly served his country in the Korean War with the United States Army. After graduating from Penn State University in 1958, Jim worked as a Procurements Specialist with the United States Department of Defense, retiring in 1989. Jim was the loving husband of Connie (Brigandi) Johnson for over 53 years. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus of the Father Joseph Tomko Assembly 934, Bridgeport, Pa. He was also a past member of Council 467 Ashland, Pa. He enjoyed playing pool, golfing, traveling and spending time with his family especially his granddaughters. In addition to his wife Connie, Jim is survived by his daughters Mary Ann (George) Schmidt, Worcester, Pa, Patty (Bob) Hendel, East Norriton, Pa, brother Bert (Debbie) Johnson of Audubon, N.J. and granddaughters Jessica Schmidt, Haley Hendel, Ellie Schmidt and Tina Hendel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Jim on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. to be held at Epihany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Friends may call Tuesday evening March 26, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:20 A.M. at the church. Final resting place will be St. Patrick's Mausoleum, East Norriton, Pa. Memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project are requested in lieu of flowers: www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
