Obituary of Joseph M. Burns

Joseph M. Burns, 89, of Collegeville, PA passed away peacefully on March 4, 2018 at his home. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 2, 1928, the son of Charles F. Burns and Mary A. Burns. Joseph has been living in Collegeville for over 25 years and was previously a resident of Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Saint Eleanor Catholic Church in Collegeville. Joseph honorably served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He had a long career as a Mechanical Engineer and was an avid golfer. He was the husband of the late Anna Mae (Ries) Burns and the late Mary (Kelly) Burns. Joseph is survived by his step son, Charles J. ( & Marian) Kelly of Gainesville, VA; brother, Robert Burns of Texas; granddaughter, Falynn Kelly; grandson, John Kelly; as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with his wives and parents, Joseph was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Jack and Dick Burns. His Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 AM from St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426. Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 West Main Street, Trappe PA 19426. Interment will take place in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Holisticare Hospice, 685 Kromer Avenue, Berwyn, PA 19312. Joseph has been living in Collegeville for 25 years, formerly of Holland, PA and Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Saint Eleanor Catholic Church in Collegeville. Joseph honorably served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid golfer.
