Obituary of John J. Murphy, Jr.

John J. Murphy Jr. of Collegeville, Pa., age 83, died Oct. 24, 2014, in Norristown. Born in Swedeland, Pa., on Feb. 7, 1931, John lived most of his life in King of Prussia, Pa. He was a graduate of Upper Merion High School. He worked as a supervisor with Alan Wood Steel in Conshohocken and as security with General Electric in Valley Forge, Pa. He had volunteered as a coach with the King of Prussia Indians football team and served on the Upper Merion Township Economic Advisory Board. He served in the US Navy, 1951-1955. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Shore) Murphy, and his parents, John and Leona (Hein) Murphy. He is survived by his daughters, Debra (& Charles) Kucher of Colmar, Pa., and Jackie M. (& Paul) Edgcomb Princeton, N.J.; his son, Brian Casey Murphy, Schwenksville, Pa.; his brother, Robert Murphy of Swedeland, Pa.; his grandchildren, Kristin, Kimberly, Torey, Lindsey, Carly, Carri, Zach and Brian; and his great -grandchildren, Charley, Aubree, Molly and Marin. His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October, 28, 2014, at 11:00 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428. Clergy: The Rev. Richard A. Olson II officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
