Obituary of Ruth A. Cox

Ruth A Cox, age 91, a resident of King of Prussia for sixty-one years, recently of Parkhouse Providence Pointe, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Philadelphia on October 30, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Amanda (Roth) Gross. She was a graduate of Upper Merion High School. Mrs. Cox was the wife of the late Milton E. Cox, Jr. to whom she was married over fifty years. She was a homemaker, and after her husband died in 1994, she went to work at Kids First daycare in King of Prussia where she enjoyed tending the infants. As a member of Upper Merion Baptist Church for many years, she was active with the Sunday School. Mrs. Cox loved to knit, crochet and do needlepoint. She had many framed needlepoint pieces, and had made all the Christmas balls for her son's family's Christmas tree. While living at Parkhouse, she crocheted a twin sized blanket for her bed. She also loved to read. Her cats were very near and dear to her heart. She is survived by her son George W. Cox (Barbara) of Phoenixville, and grandchildren Amanda Cox (Nate Gillespie) and Christopher Cox (Elizabeth). Two brothers preceded her in death; George Gross and Frederick Gross. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23, at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main Street, Trappe, PA 19426. Interment will be private in Indiantown Gap Military Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made online at thegrannieproject.org. (a senior cat rescue)
