Margaret C. (Callips) Scandalios, 92, of Conshohocken, PA passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at her daughter's home in Raleigh, NC.

Born in Athens, Greece on January 1, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Theofanis and the late Anna (Halikiopoulou) Callips.


Margaret, formerly of Brielle, NJ has been living with her daughter in Conshohocken for the last 8 years.  While living in New Jersey, she was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Neptune, NJ until she moved to Conshohocken, PA where she attended St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Jeffersonville, PA.


An avid reader, Margaret also enjoyed bowling and playing bridge while she was home raising her three children. She volunteered with the Cancer Institute of New Jersey for many years. Additionally, Margaret was an active member of the Maids of Athena, the Daughters of Penelope (where she served as president), and the Greek Orthodox Philoptochos Society. Margaret appreciated many musical styles including opera, classical, and popular music of her time. As a passionate singer with a soprano voice, she took voice lessons at the American Theater Wing in NY, participated in local opera performances, traveled and performed with the Eastern Choir Federation, and sang in the Greek Orthodox Choir. 


She is survived by daughter Anne (& Matthew) Sabia of Conshohocken, PA, daughter Stephanie (and the late Richard) Widin of Raleigh, NC, and by her grandchildren Matthew, Anne Christie, Dominic (& Erin), Cassandra (& Brett), Catie (& Steve), Alexander, Christopher, Anna, and her great-grandchildren Cora, Aiden, Ruby, Julie, Rowan and Lucy.


Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law Dr. Nicholas J. & Annie Scandalios.


Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 900 S Trooper Road, Jeffersonville, PA 19403. Friends may call on Thursday Morning, January 27, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the church.


Her Graveside Service will take place on Friday January 28, 2022 at 11:00 AM in St. George Greek Orthodox Cemetery, 2343 West Bangs Ave, Neptune, NJ 07755.
