Donald M. Hoy of Collegeville passed away on July 29th, 2022 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was 61 years old. Don was born in Norristown on August 5, 1960 and was the son of the late Lawrence F. and Catherine P. (O’Connor) Hoy.
Don worked as an Electrical Inspector for Remington and Vernick for over 10 years. Prior to that he had been a Superintendent in the new home construction business.
Don grew up in Collegeville and spent much of his life in the area. He had many interests and hobbies that he appreciated.
He loved music and went to the Philadelphia Folk Festival for over 40 years. Volunteering for many years, he eventually became the recycling / cleanup Committee Chairman.
He was an avid and talented photographer and was a member of the Upper Merion Camera Club. He enjoyed photographing birds, nature, people, and hot air balloons. In addition to music and photography, he loved his Harley Davidsons, camping, and fishing.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James A. Hoy.
Don is survived by his wife; Eileen Dunne-Hoy, his daughter; Meghan (Michael) Smith, Grandsons; Patrick and Evan Smith, his siblings; Larry Hoy, Diane (Hoy) Sauermelch, Kathleen (Hoy) Kane, Maryalice (Hoy) Stewart, Audrey Hoy, Raymond Hoy, and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends invited to his visitation on Saturday August 6th from 9:30 – 11:00 AM followed by Memorial Service at 11 AM at the Moore, Snear and Ruggiero Funeral Home 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401. Interment is private.
