Obituary of Stephen Joseph Golasa

Stephen (Steve) Joseph Golasa

Steve went home to the Lord at the age of 68 in East Norriton, Pennsylvania, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was surrounded by his brothers and nieces.

Born on January 31, 1957, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Steve was the son of John Golasa, Jr., and Helen (Zadroga) Golasa. He grew up in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania and graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. He pursued higher education with distinction, graduating with high honors from Montgomery County Community College, earning a Bachelor's degree from Villanova University, and completing his MBA at St. Joseph’s University both achieving Summa Cum Laude.

He is survived by his brothers, John C. Golasa III and Daniel (Dorothy) Golasa, as well as his nieces Melissa (Matthew) Miller, Amanda (Greggory) Robinson, Christina (Daniel) Platt, and nephews Daniel Golasa and Ryan (Keslie) Golasa. He is also survived by his great-nieces and nephews: Taylor, Ashton, Cameron, Ethan, Quinn, Wesley, Hunter, and Brooks.

Steve had a successful career in finance, working for Daniel J. Keating Construction and Consumer Price Index for the Department of Labor. In addition, he dedicated his skills as the accountant for the Timothy School in Berwyn for over 20 years.

Steve enjoyed traveling the world and effortlessly made friends wherever he went. His other interests included stand-up comedy, watching the Phillies, and playing racquetball. Known affectionately as “Uncle Steve,” he always made his nieces feel special, by exploring the city, blasting The Doors, treating them to dinner and taking them shopping every Christmas. He shared this loving tradition with his great-nieces and nephews, giving the most unique gifts and cards adorned with his calligraphy, making them instantly recognizable in the mail. He shared his love of laughter through comedy shows and his quick-witted jokes. Steve also often shared his faith, writing the “Words of Wisdom” or “WOW” column for St. John’s AME church. The love and humor he always brought to his family will be deeply missed. His legacy will continue through the stories shared, keeping his memory alive for generations to come.

A memorial service to honor Stephen will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, and will be officiated by Reverend Bertha Johnson at St. John’s AME Church, located on the corner of 8th and Harry Streets in Conshohocken, PA.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, with the service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow immediately at St. Benedict’s Cemetery, located at 1412 Colwell Lane in Conshohocken.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be directed to St. John AME Church in Conshohocken, the church that Steve loved and attended.
