Obituary of Richard W. Brower
Richard W. Brower of Skippack Township, PA, passed away on May 17th, 2025 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Marie (née Steibel) and loving father of Leslie-Anne Streeter, adored by his grandsons Evan, Maxwell, Oliver, and Simon and survived by siblings Timothy and Marylou. He is preceded in death by parents William and Helen (née Schuster) as well as his brothers David, William, and Michael.
The first of six children, he was raised in the Detroit, MI area. He attended St. Anthony High School where he was an honor student and a three sport varsity athlete. The first in his family to graduate college, Richard earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Detroit (1961) and later a Masters of Business Administration Degree (cum laude) from Middle Tennessee State University (1971).
Upon graduation from the University of Detroit he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He entered active duty serving at bases in Minot, ND, Phalsbourg, France, and Smyrna, TN from 1961 to 1970. He continued to serve in the USAF Reserve until retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel In 1989.
He joined Textron, a major conglomerate, in 1971 as an Internal Auditor. During his career he held several corporate finance positions, retiring as a VP of Finance and Administration. In retirement Richard devoted many hours as a volunteer at the Evans-Mumbower Mill, a historical site on the Wissahickon in Gwynedd, PA. He provided years of service to his community, Traditions at Skippack, in financial and director capacities.
Richard and his wife, Mylene, a native of Sarrebourg, France, made annual trips to France as a couple, with their daughter, and later with grandchildren. They also spent weeks at the Jersey Shore, delighting in spoiling their grandchildren. He especially treasured this time, earning their love and respect along the way.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday May 30th, 2025, at 11:30 AM at St. Eleanor’s Catholic Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville, PA 19426. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday May 30th, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Eleanor’s Church.
Interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Eleanor Church in Collegeville, PA.
