Obituary of George A. Major

George A. Major, 94, of Millsboro, DE passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 20, 2025

 

He was born in Shenandoah, PA on April 23, 1931, the son of the late William and the late Carrie (Decker) Major.

George has been living in Delaware for over 2 years, formerly of Conshohocken, Pa.

He graduated from Roman Catholic High School, class of 1950.

George served in the Army during the Korean War.

He worked with Reading Railroad and with Colonial School District.

George was a member of Reading Railroad Veterans Association.

He was known for being a handyman and contsruction.

George was a sports fan of Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and the Kansas City Chiefs.

He enjoyed dancing, watching cowboy movies and Mash and most enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren as well as sitting on his porch sharing a beer with neighbors and friends.

 

He was the husband of the late Martha Jane ( McKay ) Major.

 

Survivors include, Son George A. (Donna) Major, Jr. of Norristown, Pa, Son James W. (Linda) Major of Lansdale, Pa, Daughter Catharine "Kate" (John) Boulton Millsboro, De,  Grandchildren Maria Elena (Thomas), Danielle (Paul), Donna (David), George III (Jamie), James (Gavin), Jason, Steven (Rebecca), and Nicole (Tyler), and his Great Grandchildren Elena Marie, Annaliese, Thomas, Bella, Nicholas, Olivia, Lucas, Parker, George IV, Theodore, James, William, Alexia and Grayson, and Great Great Grandchildren Evelyn Mae and Mateo, Also survived by many Nieces and Nephews.

 

Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother William Major.

 

His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 10:30 AM from Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA.

Friends may call on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. 

 

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
