Obituary of John D. Ashton

John D. Ashton  

 

John D. Ashton, 91, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2025

He was born in Harmonville, Pa on December 18, 1933, the son of the late Julius C. and the late Martha (Blair) Ashton.

Jack was born and raised in Harmonville and has lived in Plymouth Meeting all of his life.

He was a member of St. Paul's RC Church.

John served in the US Army.

 

He worked as a Mail Handler with the US Postal Service.

 

He voluntered with Boy Scouts of America where he did everything from a Troop leader to Camp Counselor.

 

John was a train fanatic and he enjoyed gardening and wood working.  He was a Philadelphia Eagles Fan.  He had an interest in American Indians and would share what he learned with school children and boy scouts.

 

In his early years he was a firefighter with Harmonville Fire Co.

 

He was the husband of Late - Rita E. ( Donovan ) Ashton.

 

Survivors include, Son John J. (Lorraine) Ashton of Plymouth Meeting, Pa, Daughter Joan Calhoun of Plymouth Meeting, Pa, Son Thomas (Kim) Ashton of Spring City, Pa, Daughter Rita (David) Hunter of Ft. Collins, Co, Daughter Brenda (Clinton) Wakefield of West Conshohocken, Pa, also survived by his Grandchildren Angela, TJ, Tony, Carolyn, Joseph, Clinton, Jack, Riley and Erin, and Great Grandchildren RJ, Sophia, Linus, Neo, Caspian and Sylas.

 

Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a grandchild Casey and his siblings Bud Ashton, Frank Ashton, Emma Laskey, Martha Eckert and Elizabeth Longstreet.

 

His Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM from St. Paul RC Church, 2007 New Hope, Norristown, PA.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the church. 

 

Interment will take place in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.
