Obituary of Francis X. O'Donnell
Francis X. O'Donnell, age 69, of Worcester, PA passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 4, 1955, the son of the late Vincent Joseph O’Donnell and the late Mary Jane (Graham) O'Donnell.
Frank has been living in Worcester since 2019, formerly of Furlong, PA. He was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila RC Church of Audubon, PA. Frank had a long career with American Airlines and all of its heritage companies. He played football for years and was an avid Eagles fan. Frank was a man of infinite knowledge and interests. Besides his extensive insight into music (bands, instruments, their members, etc.), Frank also enjoyed researching and discussing architecture and history. He had a life-long love for the beach (both Brigantine and Ocean City, NJ). He and Kathy loved animals and welcomed many dogs into their home over the years, along with one rabbit! In addition, Frank was an avid and adventurous traveler, visiting many countries. He was especially fond and proud of his Irish heritage, visiting Ireland several times. Frank had a love for life and shared his mischievous and sweet grin with everyone—from strangers he met on his travels abroad to his numerous friendships, many from grade school to present. He was a blessing to his wife, extensive family and friends and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathleen “Kathy” O'Donnell (née Laydon) of Worcester, PA; and five siblings, Vincent (Cynthia) O'Donnell of Madison, NJ, Sean (Robin) O'Donnell of West Chester, PA, Jane (Michael) Moy of Downingtown, PA, Patrick O'Donnell of Phoenixville, PA and Ann (Brad) Sutton of Newport, NC. Frank is also survived by Kathy’s siblings, Janice (Ken) Orner of Norristown, PA, Sharon Laydon of West Chester, PA, Christopher Laydon of Mont Clare, PA, and Martha (Michal) Merritt of King of Prussia, PA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in-law, Jeffrey Laydon.
His Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 10:00 AM from St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 1260 S. Trooper Road, Audubon, PA 19403. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Monday morning from 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM at the Church.
Interment will be private in St. Ann's Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perelman Cancer Center at Penn Medicine or the local animal shelter of your choice.
