Catharine M. Arena  

 Catharine M. (Shinn) Arena, 88, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025. 

She was born in Philadelphia, Pa on November 8, 1936, the daughter of the late William and the late Catharine (Mitchell) Shinn.

Cass has lived in Plymouth Meeting, Pa for over 60 years, formerly of Norristown, Pa and Philadelphia, Pa where she was born and raised.

She was a member of St. Paul's RC Church.

She enjoyed spending time at Wildwood, NJ, going to the Casinos' and rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles.  She most enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was very kind and generous and had a great sense of humor. Cass loved hosting parties for family and friends.  She spent her last few years under the care of her grand-daughter Skylar and grand-dog Malcolm, who she enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and having homemade Sunday breakfasts with.  She enjoyed Mikey's sourdough bread and coffee every morning and hated lasagna.

She was a Homemaker and worked as a Pediatric Nurse and then as a bookeeper with Arena Brothers. 

She was the wife of Late - Gasper A. Arena, Sr.

Survivors include, Son Thomas (Mary) Arena of Eagleville, Pa, Daughter Virginia Ostrowsky of Cape May, NJ, Daughter Catherine Dryslewski, Daughter Stephanie (Patrick Decerio) Arena of Plymouth Meeting, Pa, Son Michael Arena of East Norriton, Pa, also survived by her Grandchildren Adam, Anthony, Aimee, JoAnne, Christie, Zachary, Jake, Michael, Nick, Dakota, Zoe, Skylar, Ashton, Katie and Malcolm, and her Great Grandchildren Abigail, Talia, James, Vivian, and Cecilia.

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sons Gasper Anthony Arena, Jr. and Anthony Steven Arena, Sr., a Grandson Steven Dryslewski, and her Siblings Elizabeth Kane, Timothy Shinn and John Shinn.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 10:30 AM from St. Paul's RC Church, 2007 New Hope Street, Norristown, PA.

Friends may call on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Paul RC Church, 2007 New Hope, Norristown, PA.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Mausoleum, East Norriton, Pa.
