Obituary of Teresa M. Sobon

Teresa M. Sobon

Teresa M. (Bernardino) Sobon, 96, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 13, 1929, the daughter of the late Gabriel and the late Parma (Casselli) Bernardino. She was the wife of the late Edward Sobon.

She is survived by her four children, Carol Loughery; Valerie (Joseph) DiGiovanni; Keith (Anne) Sobon; and Christopher (Sherrie) Sobon; cherished grandchildren Charles, Daniel, Kevin, Krista, Michael, Jennifer, and Jessica who brought her endless joy, as well as, her nine great grandchildren. She was also survived by her brother John Bernardino, nieces and nephews, who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Sobon; and siblings Louis Bernardino, Rita Preite and Daniel Bernardino.

Teresa’s life was filled with beauty, tradition, and love. She loved to read, fed her soul with art and classical music, and found beauty in everything from figure skating, to museum exhibits, to simply admiring the colors of autumn leaves from the window of a bus or train taking her on her next adventure. She was a traveler, an observer, and someone who never stopped finding wonder in the world around her. She delighted in movies, shows, gardening, good scotch, and even better company. She opened her home with joy, fed everyone who walked in, and loved us all with a fierceness that words can barely hold.

She had a deep love for baseball. Museum visits were wonderful, yes, but truth be told, she’d trade them all for one more 9-inning game or a doubleheader at Shibe Park, cheering on Bob Feller, Sandy Koufax, DiMaggio, and the Whiz Kids.

She was talented. Refinishing furniture, painting, embroidery, and crafting the world’s best pizzelles, which were always better when shared over coffee around the table, surrounded by conversation about life, family, and, most often… what everyone else was doing. Her family was her heartbeat, first, always, and sometimes to a fault, with traditions that were lovingly non-negotiable, like Christmas and Easter brunch. Birthday dinners and weekly family gatherings weren’t just meals. They were sacred moments, connection points, the heartbeat of home.

Her faith was a quiet but steady anchor. She carried a devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Teresa of Avila, a saint whose name she shared and whose strength she embodied in her own way with grace, resilience, and love that endured. Teresa’s story didn’t just touch our lives, it shaped them. She will be remembered in the smell of pizzelles, the crack of a baseball bat, the rustle of fall leaves, and in every moment shared around a table filled with laughter and love. Teresa will be remembered by all who loved her.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA.

Friends may call on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at church.

Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA 19428
