Obituary of Donald C. Herring, Jr.

Donald Clarke Herring, Jr., 78, of Eagleville, Pennsylvania (formerly of Bangor, Pennsylvania), passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at Phoenixville Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born May 18,1947 in Wilson Borough, Pennsylvania, Don was the beloved only son of the late Donald C. Herring, Sr. and Vera (Frey) Herring. He was a graduate of Pen Argyl High School Class of 1965 and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. His service took him across the United States and overseas to Okinawa, Japan—experiences he carried with quiet pride throughout his life.

After returning home, Don built a life defined by hard work, skill, and integrity. He worked at Supradur Manufacturing until 1988 while pursuing additional education and certifications in electrical and HVAC trades. An exceptionally talented electrician, Don took great pride in his work and eventually owned and operated his own electrical contracting business. He later continued his career with NAPA Development, Waste Management, and ultimately retired from Wegmans, leaving behind a reputation for reliability, craftsmanship, and humor wherever he worked.

Don shared 57 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Brenda L. Herring, who preceded him in death just 68 days earlier. Together, they raised three daughters and created a home filled with music, tools, laughter, and unconditional love. Their partnership was the foundation of their family, and Don carried Brenda’s love with him always.

Don will be remembered most for interest in people, his humor, and his curiosity about how things worked. He had a gift for fixing just about anything—electrical, mechanical, woodworking, or otherwise. He loved his workshop, music, fishing, and telling a good story—often the same one more than once, always delivered with warmth and a smile. Above all else, Don treasured time with his three daughters and later with his four grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.

A man of faith and service, Don was active in the Blue Mountain Jaycees, where he served as President and contributed to many local charitable efforts. He was a devoted member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor for many years, singing in the choir and serving as President of the Church Council. After relocating to Eagleville, he became an active and faithful member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Audubon, Pennsylvania.

Don is survived by his loving daughters Juli (Christian) Miller, Melissa (Robert) Bower, and Jill Flatley (partner Alex Maiter); his cherished grandchildren Natalie and Brandon Miller and Rachel and Ryan Bower; and his brother-in-law Bryan (Winifred) Wagner.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda.

The family will receive friends for a calling hour at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Road, Audubon, PA 19403, or to The Cardiac Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia – Adult Congenital Heart Program at
