Kathleen M. Moran Obituary
Kathleen M. Moran
Kathleen M. (DeSimone) Moran, 76, of Audubon, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on May 2, 1949, she was the beloved daughter of the late Angelo and Lena (Santangelo) DeSimone. Kathleen was raised in Norristown and later made her home in Collegeville beginning in 1971.
Kathleen graduated from Norristown High School with the Class of 1967 and went on to work in Accounts Payable for CertainTeed Corporation, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
She was a member of St. Eleanor Roman Catholic Church in Collegeville and later enjoyed attending Mass with her daughter and family at Visitation B.V.M. Church in Norristown.
Kathleen was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Joseph Moran, sharing 50 years of marriage together. They were best friends and she cared for him with extraordinary love and devotion, especially during his illness.
She was also a loving daughter who devoted herself to caring for both of her parents in their later years.
When her children, Melissa and Joseph, were young, Kathleen cherished family camping trips and the simple joy of traveling together, sitting around campfires, roasting marshmallows, and making lasting memories as a family.
Kathleen’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment she was able to share with them. To her grandchildren, she was simply “Mommom,” and being their grandmother was her greatest pride and joy. She was always happy to babysit at a moment’s notice and loved spoiling her grandchildren whenever she could. Sleepovers with Mommom often meant slumber parties in the family room, making waffles together in the morning, or baking cookies late into the evening.
Holidays were especially meaningful to Kathleen and were filled with traditions she lovingly created for her family. Thanksgiving dinners at her home were known for their elaborate spreads and delicious cooking. Christmas was often celebrated at Mommom and Poppop’s house, where family gathered among piles of wrapped presents, laughter, and joyful chaos. Easter egg hunts in their backyard were another cherished tradition that brought excitement and lasting memories to the grandchildren year after year.
One of Kathy’s favorite traditions was spending a week each summer at the Jersey Shore with her grandchildren — time she cherished deeply and looked forward to every year.
Kathleen also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, gifting her grandchildren a new QVC ornament each year, and the simple pleasures of home. She enjoyed the occasional lunch with her high school friends and treasured those longtime friendships. She had a true green thumb and found great joy in gardening, carefully planting and tending to her flowers. Even later in life, when she moved from her longtime Collegeville home to live with her daughter, she lovingly recreated her garden so she could continue enjoying the beauty of the flowers she adored.
Kathleen was known for her quiet strength, kindness, and nurturing spirit. She was humble, deeply loving, and an incredible caregiver who always put others before herself.
Kathleen faced a long and courageous battle with cancer with quiet strength and determination, never wanting to give up. Her strength was an inspiration to those around her. While her family’s hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing she is now wrapped in the loving arms of Jesus and reunited with those who went before her, especially her beloved husband and son.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa (Dan) Murphy of Audubon, PA, and her cherished grandchildren: Riley, Raegan, Mary Grace, Matthew, and Maeve.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Moran; her son, Joseph M. Moran, Jr.; and her sister, Evelyn Lepera.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Eleanor Roman Catholic Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church prior to Mass.
Interment will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s memory to: St. Eleanor Roman Catholic Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.
Her love, strength, and quiet devotion to her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and the love she shared as “Mommom” will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren forever.
