William C. Schafer, age 95, of Collegeville, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 18, 1930, the son of the late William and Herma (Morav) Schafer.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Zurales) Schafer. 

Bill lived in Chicago until the early 70's when he and his family moved to Cherry Hill, NJ where he resided for almost 50 years before moving to Philadelphia and later Collegeville, PA.  He was a former active member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church of Cherry Hill.  He worked as an Actuary until his retirement.  He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He was immensely proud of his 11 grandchildren and 8.5 great grandchildren. 

He is survived by his wife, Leslie Schafer (née Tenho) of Philadelphia; four children, William (Lynn) Schafer of Toledo, OH, Sandy (Joe) Booth of Collegeville, PA, Brad (Ruth) Schafer of Ellington, CT and Matthew Cissne of Lancaster, PA; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Katie, Kristina, Will, JJ, Kellie, Carolyn, Kurt, Tim, Hannah and Kira; and eight great grandchildren, Blaire, Olivia, Kaia, Adelyn, Avery, Elias, Lexi, and Liv, plus one great grandson on the way. 

A celebration of life is being planned by the family.
