Joseph W. Burkey, Sr.  

Joseph W. "Joey" Burkey, Sr., 73, of East Norriton, PA passed away Friday, March 20, 2026.  He passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home.

He was born in Norristown, Pa on August 9, 1952, the son of the late Robert Leroy and the late Dorothy (Leonard) Burkey.

Joey had been living in East Norriton for over 30 years, formerly of Blue Bell and Norristown where he was raised.

He was an outdoorsman. Joe's favorite times were spent on Taylors Island fishing, crabbing, and boating while visiting his family. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, listening to music, dancing, and cooking. 

He worked as a facilities Maintenance Engineer for Korman communities and most recently at Hyatt. 

He was the husband of Patricia A. (Hookway ) Burkey for over 48 years.

Survivors include Wife Patricia Burkey Of East Norriton, PA, Son Joseph W. (Jill) Burkey, Jr. of Ambler, PA, Daughter Amy Burkey of Norristown, PA, Brother Gary Burkey of Secretary, MD, Sister Dorothea Matey of Hurlock, MD. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Alycia Rose Burkey, Nathan Thomas Hall,  Joseph W. "JT" Burkey, III, and many nieces and nephews. 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers Robert Burkey, Jr and Michael Burkey.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11 AM from Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA.

Friends may call on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the funeral home. 

Interment will be private.
