Ruth Hanna, age 82, of Pottstown, PA passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

She was born in Schwenksville, PA on May 29, 1943, the daughter of the late Claude Kratz and the late Mary Elizabeth (Garges) Kratz.

Ruth has been living in Pottstown for over 30 years.  She was a talented artist, having studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and longtime Illustrator of children’s books.  She won the Ursinus College Art Show for her work.  She was an animal lover, especially fond of horseback riding and caring for her dogs. She loved baseball, especially watching her son play, and was overjoyed by the Phillies’ 2008 World Series Championship. 

She lived by the motto, “It is a great life, if you do not weaken,” and reflected it through the grace and strength she showed throughout her long battle with dementia.  

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Hanna; her beloved son, Alec (Lindsay) Hanna; and her two grandchildren, Benjamin and Lucy Hanna. 

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Kenny and Raymond Kratz. 

Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 10:30 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401.  Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will take place in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting, PA.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to charity of your choice.
