Obituary of John F. Hurley, Sr.

John (Jack) F. Hurley, Sr., 80, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Thursday June 14, 2018. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 21, 1937. Son of the late John F. & Mary (Craddock) Hurley. Jack has lived in Phoenixville, PA for over 11 years, formerly of Audubon, PA (35 years), and Milpitas CA (5 years). He was a member of Visitation B.V.M. RC Church. He served honorably in the US Air Force for 5 years. Jack worked as an engineer with General Electric (later Lockheed Martin) for 38 years. Jack enjoyed golfing, boating and fishing. He regularly volunteered to support various community events and activities. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Martha M. (Lehman) Hurley of Phoenixville PA. He is additionally survived by: Daughter: MaryAnne MacAlyse Spring City PA Son: Mark Hurley Reno NV Son: Jack (& Maria) Hurley Ocean NJ Son in Law: Brian McCarthy Lafayette Hill PA Jack and Martha were blessed with 6 Grandchildren: Abigail Freuwoerth, Brian McCarthy, Jr., Bridget Cymbrowitz, Amanda Hurley, Jack Hurley & Collin Hurley. And 5 Great Grandchildren: Briana McCarthy, Brittney McCarthy, Chase Cymbrowitz, Dylan Cymbrowitz, & Jacob Freuwoerth . Jack was preceded in death by his daughter Diane Marie McCarthy. His Memorial Mass will be held on Monday June 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM from the Visitation B.V.M. RC Church 196 North Trooper Road, Norristown. Father Terry Weik will be officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the church. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Covenant House 460 West 41st Street, New York, NY 10036, or the Montgomery County S.P.C.A., 19 East Ridge Pike, Post Office Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222.
