Obituary of Margaret "Peg" Stone

Margaret A. Stone, 79, of Skippack, PA, passed away on February 14, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Montclair , NJ on July 31, 1937, the daughter of the late Randall and Margaret (Ward) Sawyer. In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her brother, Randall Sawyer. Peg has been living in Skippack for 17 years. She was raised in Bala Cynwyd and later lived in Gulph Mills and Lafayette Hill. She and her husband, George, split their time between Skippack and Fiddlesticks Country Club in Fort Myers, FL. Peg loved all animals and especially found joy in raising puppies. She enjoyed holidays with her family, the beach with her grandchildren, sewing, crafts, and gardening. She was an incredibly talented musician, sang and played piano. She was a member of the Valley Forge chapter of the Sweet Adeline’s competitive singing group and was president when they traveled to compete in Russia. In Florida, Peg enjoyed volunteering at Lee Memorial Hospital, the occasional round of golf and the company of countless friends. Above all, Peg was the cornerstone of her family. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, George F. Stone, Jr. of Skippack; Two sons, George F. "Scott" (Karen) Stone, III of Worcester, and David (Lisa ) Stone of Pottstown; Daughter, Kathleen (Randall ) Younker of Royersford, 11 Grandchildren, as well as her faithful dog, Honey. Her Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 12 noon, at St. James Episcopal Church, 3768 Germantown Pike, Collegeville, PA 19426. The Rev. W. Michael Sowards will officiate. Friends and Family may be received on Monday at 11:00 AM before the service. Interment will be private.
