Obituary of Laurence E. Blomstrom

Laurence E. Blomstrom, 82, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away on Monday March 27, 2017. He was born in Worcester, MA on February 9, 1935. Larry has been living in Plymouth Meeting, Pa since 1960. Longtime member of Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church of Plymouth Meeting, Pa, where he was a very active member. He was an Aero Space Engineer at Hughes Aircraft, General Electric, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin. His many professional achievements included working on the first manned spacecraft to the moon as part of the Apollo Program and being part of the team that developed GPS (Global Positioning Satellites). He is also in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum for his classified work as a General Electric (GE) Satellite Recovery Vehicle (SRV) Trailblazer in the 1960's intelligence revolution by retrieving the Corona Imagery that helped win the Cold War as part of the Corona Program. He was very active with the Archbishop Kennedy High School Football Boosters in Conshohocken, PA. He enjoyed playing cards with Epiphany Men's Club and Andrew Lanutti Post. Larry also volunteered to coach many sports teams throughout the years. Son of the Late Everett Blomstrom & Ethel (Lind) Blomstrom Survivors include his Beloved Wife: Shirley Blomstrom Plymouth Meeting, PA Son: Thomas (& Renee) Blomstrom Collegeville PA Son In Law: Joseph (& Cindy Johnson) Wileczck Also survived by 4 Grandchildren Patricia (&Erich) Geckle, Lori (& Trevor) Johring, Alexandria Blomstrom, & Blaise Blomstrom, a Great Grandson Dane and Nieces & Nephews Charles & Kalie Martello, Cindy & Dan Cody. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Donna P. Wileczck, son Laurence C. Blomstrom And a brother Paul Blomstrom. The family wishes to thank the many family and friends for their loving support over the years. In addition, the family would like to acknowledge the professional and caring efforts of Suburban Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center in East Norriton, PA and Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in East Norriton, PA. His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday April 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Epiphany of Our Lord RC Church, 3050 Walton & Township Line Road, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462. Fr. Joseph J. Quindlen will be officiating. Friends may call on Saturday Morning from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the Church. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA 19428.
