Obituary of Dorothy M. Pierce

After nearly 50 years of marriage, Edward "Ted" Pierce, 74, and Dorothy "Dot" (Magrogan) Pierce, 79, passed away just months apart in Englewood, Florida – he on October 18, 2016 and she on March 27, 2017. Edward, born September 13, 1942, and Dorothy, born December 11, 1937, both attended St. Matthews High School in Conshohocken, PA. Prior to retiring to Florida in 2005, the couple lived in Malvern, PA where Dorothy cared for their home and family and Edward worked at Johnson Matthey Company. Earlier in their lives, Dorothy worked at Bentley & Harris in Conshohocken, PA, and Edward served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Grateful for having shared in Edward and Dorothy's lives are their four daughters, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The daughters include: Mary Ann (late William) Brice, of West Chester, PA and their children Joseph (Nicole) and Alan; Dorothy (Lou) Recchilongo of Conshohocken, PA, and their children Christopher (Sarah), Stephen, Kelli, and Allison; Margaret (Joseph) Hedglin of Malvern, PA and their children Melissa and Sara; and Diana (George) Bauer of Houston, TX and their daughter Angela. Great grandchildren include Olivia, Ainsley, and Sofia Recchilongo, and Madeline and Joseph Brice. In addition, Edward was survived by siblings Joe (Mary) Pierce of Omaha, NE, Donald (Mary Lou) of Norristown, PA, Gerald (Elizabeth) Pierce of Conshohocken, and Joan Pierce of Conshohocken. Dorothy was survived by siblings Katherine Santino Van Akin of Englewood, FL, and Donna (Jack) Kasopsky of Oley, PA. Edward was preceded in death by parents Margaret (Krooze) and Alfred Pierce, and siblings Alfred (Joan) Pierce, Ann (Leo) Clayboss, and Jackie Pierce. Dorothy was preceded in death by parents Margaret (Hatton) and Samuel Magrogan, and sister Helen Louise (Joe) Golas. Memorial services for Edward and Dorothy will be held at St. Matthews Church, 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, PA from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass. Burial will then take place at St. Matthews Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.
