I had the pleasure of knowing Jean for about three years as one of my nail clients. She was mentally sharp and strong as steel, and always knew exactly what she wanted. Despite being in her late 80s, Jean never looked her age! Her sense of humor was one of my favorite things about her, especially when she joked about her daughter, Valerie. As a client, Jean was kind, open to suggestions, and yet she always had her preferences, especially when it came to colors. I fondly remember the times when, as I worked on Jean’s nails, Valerie would almost always call to check in. Similarly, when I was doing Valerie’s nails, Jean would call to see what Valerie was up to. They always stayed connected, sharing updates about their day. Those moments made it clear just how close and caring their family was. During Jean’s last two visits, I noticed a change in her—she wasn’t doing as well and had stopped driving. Still, I never imagined she would leave us so soon. The last design I drew on her nails was a green Christmas gift bow, something festive for the holidays. I wished her happy holidays as she left, not knowing it would be our final goodbye. Now, I can’t help but regret not giving her a big hug that day. Jean, wherever you are now, may you find peace and happiness. You are gone but never forgotten. I will miss you, especially when I see Valerie and Rachael. Aunt Jean I love you so much. Thank you for all the love you gave to me and my children. I will miss you so much. Tell Mom, Dad and Uncle Fran I said hello and miss them. Until we meet again.
