Obituary of Edmund J. Palek, Sr.
Edmund J. Palek, Sr, 87, of Harleysville, PA passed away peacefully during a short hospital stay on Wednesday March 15, 2017. He was born in Shenandoah, PA on November 15, 1929.
Ed and his wife have been living in the Arbour Square Retirement Community since Nov 2015 and he was formerly of East Norriton, Pa where he lived for more than 55 years. He was born and raised in Shenandoah, Pa. He served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he received the Korean Service Medal and a Bronze Campaign Star, along with a United Nations Service Medal. After returning from the war, he attended Penn State University and obtained a Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree. Ed worked more than 40 years in the engineering field at Martin Aircraft, General Electric and then FMC in Lansdale, PA where he retired as an Engineering Manager in 1993.
He was a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and St. Titus Church in East Norriton, Pa.

Granddaughter: Jessica Palek Conshohocken, PA
Granddaughter: Stacey Palek Trooper, PA
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son Russell G. Palek, and his 3 brothers Joseph Palek, Thomas Palek & Bernard Palek.
Ed really enjoyed spending time with family and friends and lived a full life as a loving and devoted husband to his wife Charlotte for more than 60 years. He especially enjoyed travel with the family's travel trailer during summer trips to Myrtle Beach and more than 30 years camping with their close friends at Red Run Campground in Lancaster, PA. Shortly after his retirement, Ed was promoted to his favorite job serving as "Poppop" for his pride and joy granddaughters Jessica and Stacey and their friends. He put his engineering skills to work by building a swing-set for the girls and fixing cars or anything that broke to help out. He enjoyed watching his granddaughters in their activities throughout the years and was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan.
Funeral Services will be held Monday March 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 19 East Germantown Pike, East Norriton, PA 19401.
Friends may call on Monday Morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home.
Interment will take place in St. Patrick's Mausoleum, East Norriton, PA.

Ed has been living in Harleysville, Pa for the last year, formerly of East Norriton, Pa
and Shenandoah , Pa where he was born and raised.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he recieved the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Campaign Star, and the United Nations Service Medal.
He attended Penn State University.
Edmund worked as an Engineering Manager with FMC water treatment equipment company of Lansdale, Pa
He was also a member of Disabled American Veterans.
