It may have been chance that Josephine was born in Buffalo, NY and John was born in Philadelphia, Pa., but it was destiny that brougt them together at a Drum and Bugle Corp event. They later Married on June 12, 1954 at St. Benedict's Church in Philadelphia
A young woman with a growing family, she and John moved to Texas and then eventually returned to the Philadelphi area. Jo raised four children, finished college, earned a master's degree in education, served as president for the Allentown Chapter of American Association of University Women and taught computer operations at the Allentown Senior Citizens Center. Jo and John retired to Naples, Fl in 2005 and later moved to Blue Bell in 2016. She was a religious woman, enjoyed meeting with friends and spending time with her family. Obituary of Josephine K. Mountain
Mrs. Josephine K. Mountain, 86, of Blue Bell, PA, affectionately known as "Jo" to those who loved her best, peacefully entered into Eternal Rest with her family by her side on December 9, 2017.
She was born in Buffalo NY on December 14, 1930 and was raised by her parents, Frederic and Helen Kremer, in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Jo married John A. Mountain on June 12, 1954 and together they shared a very happy life for 61 years. She graduated from Kutztown University in 1972 and received her Master in Education from Lehigh University in 1974. She was a substitute teacher for the East Penn School district. Jo served as president for the Allentown chapter of the American Association of University Women and taught computer literacy at the Lehigh County Senior Citizens' Center. Josephine was an active member of St. Thomas More Church during her 38 years in Allentown before retiring with John to Naples, FL.
She was a religious woman, enjoyed talking with friends and spending time with her family. Her hobbies included league bowling, growing houseplants, drawing and knitting. Jo was a devoted wife, loving mother and good friend. Mom and dad are reunited and we miss them both.
John preceded her into heaven along with her parents, her sister, Helene Crismond, and her brother, John F. Kremer.
Those who celebrate her life and cherish her precious and loving memories include her daughter Katherine Schaperjahn of Columbia, SC, her three sons and their wives; John Mountain Jr. of Kunkletown, PA; Thomas and Lisa Mountain of Allentown, PA; and James and Terese Mountain of Wayne, PA; her nine grandchildren and their spouses, Michah Schaperjahn, Robyn and John Chatwood, Kalyn and Noah Yeager, Thomas Mountain Jr., Alex Mountain, Jason Mountain, George Mountain, Philip Mountain and Mary Grace Mountain; and four great grandchildren, John, Robert, Eleanor and Joseph; along with nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Helena RC Church, Blue Bell, PA on December 16, 2017 at 10:00 am, committal to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia.
