Obituary of Daniel W. Kirkpatrick

Daniel W. "Turk" Kirkpatrick, passed away at his home in New Mexico on March 14, 2013. He was born on October 4, 1918 to Margaret and E. Lester Kirkpatrick of Conshohocken. He graduated from Conshohocken High School in 1936. He did his pre-med studies at Ursinus College, graduating in 1940. He attended Hahnemann Medical School graduating from a WWII accelerated program in 1943. After enlisting in the Army, Capt. Kirkpatrick served in the 9th Service Command as chief medical officer for Los Angeles, CA. After discharge in 1946, he joined the general medical practice of Dr. Paul Miralia in Conshohocken. In 1952 he opened his own practice of general medicine and obstetrics in Plymouth Valley where he practiced until retirement. He also taught obstetrics classes at Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing. He was a founding member of the Plymouth-Whitemarsh Exchange Club, a member of Fritz Lodge No. 308, and a long time member and past president of the Colonial School Board. Turk was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed traveling especially to Wyoming and Montana where they owned a small ranch for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Emme Bean; son, Daniel; and his wife, Janet. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Dr. Daniel and Janet Kirkpatrick on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, 750 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Interment will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Plymouth Meeting.
