James A. Conicello, Sr. Obituary

James A. Conicello, Sr., passed away on August 14, 2013 at Mercy Suburban Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness, he was 71. He was born on March 1, 1942 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Dominic & Hannah Elizabeth (Webster) Conicello. He spent his childhood years in West Conshohocken and attended St. Matthews High School. He was a longtime resident of the Cedar Heights section of Whitemarsh Township and a member of SS Cosmas and Damian Church. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Machinist at Precision Tube Company in North Wales, Pa. Mr. Conicello was an avid coin collector as well as a former stained glass hobbyist. He took pleasure in playing cards and prior to his illness was a frequent visitor to the casinos in Atlantic City. He enjoyed photography and antique clocks and collected many of each in his lifetime. Always on the hunt for a good deal, he regularly visited yard sales and flea markets for his treasures and was affectionately known around town as "Big Jim". Most importantly, he was a loving husband, loyal brother and a strong and faithful father to his children. He provided them with a strong paternal foundation and leaves behind his greatest gift of family. He was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife of fifty years, Barbara A. (Koscuisko) Conicello and his eldest son James Conicello Jr. He is survived by his nine children; Michael (Su) of East Norriton, Christopher (Laurie) of Plymouth Meeting, Mary Bracy (Edward) of King of Prussia, Barbara Lynch (Jeffrey) of Plymouth Meeting, Laura (Dan) of Norristown, Susannah, Nicholas, Rebecca (John) and Daniel (Johanna), all of Conshohocken. He was a loving "Poppy" to his ten grandchildren, Christopher, Gabriel & Roman Conicello, Adrianna & Joshua Lynch, Autumn Rose, John & Aubrey Bobo and Chelsea & Randy Bracy. He is also survived by his two brothers Dominic Conicello, and his wife Peggy of Wayne and Gerry Conicello, and his wife Jane of West Conshohocken, his sister-in-law Stella Bates of Havertown, and his brothers in law, John Koscuisko of Upper Darby, Leon Koscuisko (Joan) of Glendale, AZ and Michael Koscuisko of Berry, AL, as well as many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at SS Cosmas & Damian Church, 5th & Maple Streets, Conshohocken. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and Monday morning from 8:30-9:30 A.M. at Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, Pa. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, Pa. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in his name for the benefit of local fire victims to: The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pa., 2221 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
