Obituary of Kenneth M. Bernstiel
Kenneth M. Bernstiel, age 56, of Sanatoga, died Friday, February 7, 2014 in Phoenixville.
He was the husband to Amy (Ruggieri) Bernstiel for nearly 20 years.
Born in Norristown, PA on June 29, 1957, he was the son of the late Ann (Chislett) and Edward Bernstiel.
He was the owner of Ken Bernstiel Auto Body and Restoration in Phoenixville since 2003, and he also worked with PennDot since 2008.
Kenney loved throwing the ball around and fishing with his sons. He also enjoyed making apple pies with his daughter. He loved to golf albeit he wasn't very good and he would be the first to tell you he just wanted to have fun. Nothing was ever about winning or losing, it was about just having fun. He was such a proud dad watching his son Cole play ice hockey from a little boy all the way to college. Kenney recently found a new love in kayaking. Kenney and Chas would take any opportunity they could find to go to the river and kayak upstream! Kenney was an avid Flyers and Phillies fan. Every weekend you could find Kenney enjoying a game or two or three with his friends and neighbors.
Kenney's heart broke years ago but he took every day in stride and made the best of every day. You could always count on a smile and that laugh even in the worst of times. Kenney made friends wherever he went. His personality and carefree attitude made him one of those guys you couldn't help but like. Everyone called Ken, the guy at the body shop, friend.
In addition to his wife, Amy, Kenney is survived by his son, Cole Bernstiel of Sanatoga, PA; grandson, Damien Dinella of Norristown; sisters, Lori (& Francis) Saylor of Norristown, Tara (& Charles) Chell of Royersford, Joann (& Vince) Alarid of Gainesville, FL, and Tracy (& Charles) Johnson of Sewell, NJ; brother, Greg (& Arlene) Bernstiel of Bell Mawr, NJ.
Also survived by and loved by aunts, uncles, cousins, and many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two of his children Kenneth M. & Amber N. Bernstiel.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Theresa Of Calcutta RC Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville. Father Paul Brandt will officiate.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church.
Interment will be private in St. Augustine Cemetery.
