Sammy - it's May 15, 2019 and you've been gone for 38 days now and it seems like just yesterday. I wake up every morning and it's like I lose you all over again. I don't know how to go on without you. If I could have the last 5 minutes of your life back to talk to, I would die a thousand times in your place. Please send me a sign you are in a better place and all your pain, both mental and physcial, is gone now. I need to know you are safe. I break down 2 dozen times a day thinking I will never see you again. Love forever and a day Dad

Sammy - you looked so happy with your sister sitting by the water. I remember the day this was taken and never thought it would be your last vacation. I thought we had 30, 40, 50... more and that I would surely leave this world before you. I am so sorry you felt no hope. I wish I could have and should have done more to help you through this dark time in your life. I always thought you would come out the other end "a better man" as you told us you would. I miss you profoundly and don't know how to go forward without you in my life. Love forever and a day.... Dad

Son - I miss you so much - my life has a hole in it that can never go away. You were one of the biggest parts of my world. I don't know how I can go on without you. Please forgive me for not doing more - I should have saved you somehow. I will be with you some day - I know you are at peace now. You wanted all the pain to stop and God heard you and stopped it - at the same time He gave it to us in your family that remain here without you. I know it can't happen but I wish I could have the last five minutes of your life back with me to hold your hand and hug you. Love forever - Dad

There's a hole in the universe in the shape of Sam. The hole in my heart is the exact same size. Though we knew each other for far too brief a time, his face, his voice, his laugh, his memory, will be with me always. Sammy, I will miss you every day for the rest of my life, and will never stop wishing you'd were here to keep us all company well into your old age. Thank you for every moment you shared with me. Your friendship added so much love and joy to my life. Wherever you are, I know it's some version of a heaven...which I know must include kitties, elephants, orcas, dolphins -- all the things you love about the world -- in order for it to be your Heaven.
