Obituary of Robert J. Wilson

Robert James Wilson, Jr, 68, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, died peacefully with his family at his side on January 4, 2015, at Einstein Medical Center, East Norriton, PA. Born January 18, 1947, in Kingston, PA, Robert, a man of many nicknames (Bobby, Bob, RJ, Arj, Tiger, Duke) was the son of the late Robert J. and Esther (Sipple) Wilson of Wyoming, PA. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1964, then matriculated to Bloomsburg State College where he earned a degree in Education in 1969 and was Social Director of Sigma Iota Omega Fraternity. He served in the 45th Military Intelligence Company of the US Army, achieved the rank of Specialist 5 and received the Army Accommodations Medal for his services in Vietnam. Returning to the states, he was employed by the Veterans Administration where he worked for 35 years. Later he worked for Montgomery County Board of Assessment until his retirement. As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairview Village, PA., he actively served in many ministries including Norristown Soup Kitchen, ALPHA and APLHA marriage. He loved all sports and was an avid Penn State and Philadelphia Phillies fan. He had a passion for running and golf and competed for several years in the Broad Street Run and the Philadelphia Half Marathon More significant than the events of Bob's life were the qualities that made him an exceptional person. This child of the 1950's retained and displayed the values of the era. He was a dedicated son, an accepting, supportive, and devilish big brother, a loyal friend, and most importantly a loving and nurturing husband and father. His absence will leave a hole in the hearts of those to whom he remains dear. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 29 years, Sharon Gallagher Wilson, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, PA, daughters Merideth Ann Wilson and Rachel Victoria Wilson, both of Plymouth Meeting, brother David Wilson of Tunkhannock, PA and sister Janis Wilson Seeley of Shavertown, PA and numerous nieces and nephews, and his adopted Gallagher sisters and brothers. Viewing will be from 6-8 pm Friday, January 8 at the Moore and Snear Funeral Home, East Norriton, PA and from 9-10 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairview Village, PA followed by a Memorial Service from 10-11 am on Saturday, January 9.
