Irving J. Pleat  

Irving “Irv” J. Pleat, 87, of Boynton Beach, FL passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Schwenksville, PA surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Pleat was born on June 6, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA to his parents, Philip and Sophie (Singer) Pleat. He graduated from the University of West Chester in 1951. He earned Masters Degrees at Temple University & Colgate University.   Irv served with the U.S. Army in France during the Korean War from 1954 through 1956.  Following his military service, Mr. Pleat moved to Long Island, New York where he had a long and distinguished career as a high school Administrator & Asst. Principal. Irv retired in 1990 and moved with his wife DeMares to Boynton Beach, Florida.

Mr. Pleat was a passionate fan of baseball and especially of the New York Yankees.  Irv had a wonderful sense of humor.  In his retirement, he enjoyed playing poker, watching Wheel of Fortune and enjoying ice cream (especially with his grandchildren at midnight).

Mr. Pleat is survived by his wife E. Demares O’Connell Pleat, his daughter and son-in-law, Joli and John Groomes of Schwenksville, PA; his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Arianna Pleat of Danville, CA and his grandchildren Emma Groomes, Evan Groomes, Elkan Pleat, Sofia Pleat and Jamason MacMillan. Irv is preceded in death by his brother Victor Pleat.

Mr. Pleat’s service & interment will be private.

An ice cream social will take place on Saturday November 30 at 3:00 PM at 13 Wismer Road, Schwenksville, PA 19473. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Pleat’s life.
