Obituary of Elizabeth Anne Paquette
Elizabeth "Betty" A. Paquette, 86, of Gilbertsville, PA, died peacefully surrounded “virtually” via FaceTime and telephone by her loving family and compassionate nursing care staff on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at the Einstein Medical Center, East Norriton, PA from a long-term illness.
Elizabeth was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on July 26, 1933, the youngest daughter of eight children to the late Albert Harold Cowick and Emmeline Hawes (Shrivell) Cowick. She was raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and educated in the local school system there.
Betty, known for her striking looks and sense of style, enjoyed a full, enriching life that saw her and her husband Gerry, along with their expanding family moved from their native Canada to the United States, living in Indianapolis, South Bend, Indiana, Manchester, Bedford, and Gilford, New Hampshire, Newport, Vermont, and North Fort Myers, Florida.
She settled in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania and lived there for the last 15 years of her life. Her greatest joy was being with family, spending time with them at the various vacation homes they had lived in over the years, and she was very proud of the accomplishments of her children and later grandchildren, whether in the classroom, hockey rink, or playing fields.
Once Betty settled in Pennsylvania she became a devoted fan of both the Phillies and Flyers, and could not only name the players, but often knew impressive details about the players’ families too! Above all else she will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Elizabeth was the last surviving sibling of her family. She was predeceased by her parents in addition to her four brothers Wib, Tom, John, and Barry, and three sisters Margaret, Eileen, and Muriel.
She leaves behind a family who adored her, including her loving husband of 66 years, Gerald Paquette of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, her two daughters, Debra Madden and her husband Jay of Manchester, New Hampshire, Joanne LaRoche and her husband Brian of Pembroke, New Hampshire, three sons, Daniel Paquette and his wife Amy of Marysville, Washington, Scott Paquette and his wife Anita of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and Christopher Paquette and his wife, Jennifer of Collegeville, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren Shawn, Kellie, Corey, Erin, Tyler, Cameron, Brady, Adina, and Addison along with great-grandchildren Kaidence, Daxton and Macie in addition to her sister-in-law Arlene Cowick and many loving nieces and nephews.
Due to the complexity of the current health crisis, initial services will be limited to a family viewing on Tuesday April 28th with interment services planned at a date to be named later in Concord, New Hampshire at Christ the King Parish and Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord, New Hampshire.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association (https://www.alz.org).
