Obituary of Mary Molly Gavanus

Mary "Molly" ( McDade) Gavanus, 92, of East Norriton, PA passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020. 

She was born in Conshohocken, Pa on August 26, 1927, the daughter of the late James and the late Mary Agnes (Hickey) McDade, Sr.

Molly has been living in Blue Bell, Pa for the last 18 years, formerly of East Norriton, Pa.

She was a member of St. Titus RC Church of East Norriton.  Her family was one of the original founding families of St. Titus Parish and she sang in the Choir there for over 50 years. 

She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Gavanus, Sr., whom she met while working as a civilian secretary for the U.S. Navy after World War II.  They were married for 61 years.

Survivors include Son Joseph (& Pat) Gavanus, Jr. of East Norriton, Son Michael (& Gloria) Gavanus of Plymouth Meeting, Grandsons Joseph (& Mariel) Gavanus III and James Gavanus.

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Bolger, and a brother, James McDade, Jr.

She was a Homemaker.  Molly was a member of the Norriton Fire Engine Company Ladies Auxiliary.  She also volunteered at St. Titus School teaching computer skills to kindergartners and first graders.

In their early retirement years, Molly and her husband, Joe, traveled the United States and Europe extensively, visiting the western U.S., Alaska and Hawaii.  They also took trips to Ireland, Spain, and Portugal with their friends. 

Molly loved family activities and she loved life. One of her favorite activities was being with her two grandsons and taking them on trips to the Elmwood Park Zoo.

There will be a viewing at St. Titus RC Church on Friday June 26, 2020 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM in the church.

Her Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM from St. Titus RC Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton, PA. 

Interment will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton, PA.
