Obituary of Joan A. Friel

Joan A. Friel, age 83, of Norristown, PA passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

 

She was born in The Bronx, New York on March 1, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Gillespie) Campbell.

 

Joan lived most of her life in Norristown and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi RC Church.  She graduated from St. Francis of Assisi Parish School and West Catholic High School.  Joan was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, listening to Irish music, and keeping up with the news and politics.  Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed working as a Receptionist for the Conshohocken Office of Cozen O'Connor.  Joan was dedicated to her children and grandchildren.  She was patient and kind, always willing to listen and lend support.  

 

She was the wife of the late James M. "Reds" Friel.

 

She is survived by six children, James M. Friel of Schwenksville, John J. Friel of Norristown, Elizabeth Friel of Norristown, Patricia A. ( & Donald) Skaw of Norristown, Mary Catherine Friel of Norristown and Kristen (& Mark) Pulcini of Norristown.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Ryan Hanley, John Hanley, Quinn Hanley, Andrew Krier, Madelyn Skaw, and Siobhan Pulcini.  

 

Along with her husband and parents, Joan was preceded in death by her son, Thomas P. Friel; sister, Patricia M. Campbell, and brother, John B. Campbell.  

 

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM from St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton Street, Norristown, PA 19401.  Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church.   

 

Interment will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton, PA.
