Lynne Chesshire

Obituary of Lynne F. Chesshire

Lynne Frances Chesshire (née Wallace), age 79, of Schwenksville, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at home with her family and beloved pets by her side. It took two attempts for cancer to beat her, and she still fought it well after her doctors predicted she would live, resting only after her granddaughter celebrated her high school graduation.

She was born in Camden, New Jersey on January 22, 1942, the daughter of the late Albert and Dorothy (Rambo) Wallace. She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends until the endwith one of her last notes on her ‘to-do list’ being “bake blueberry pie” in anticipation of visitors several days before her death.

She grew up in southern New Jersey, attending St. Peter School and Merchantville High School (Class of ’59). Graduating from the West Jersey Hospital School of Nursing, Lynne was passionate throughout her career about helping underserved communities and spent a majority of her career working as a Registered Nurse and Case Manager, and volunteering in Camden, New Jersey. She was often acknowledged by her colleagues at West Jersey and Our Lady of Lourdes hospitals for the help she provided, but her impact was truly evident in the countless letters and cards from patients and members of the community whom she helped, whether helping homeless get into shelters or organizing holiday meals for residents of several low-income housing complexes in Camden.

She is survived by her son, Jonathan (& Kathryn) Chesshire; sister, Jane (& David) Dolan; two granddaughters, Abigail & Dorothy; nieces and nephews, cousins, her pets, Tessa & Belle; and friends, colleagues, and members of the Camden community for whom she cherished.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Wallace.

Services and interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to: Project H.O.P.E (http://projecthopecamden.org/ ) or Montgomery County SPCA ( https://montgomerycountyspca.org/ ).
