Obituary of Meredith F. Conlan

Meredith F. Conlan

Meredith (Frye) Conlan, 80, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021.

Wife, Mother, Oma, Daughter, Friend, Aunt and Cousin.  Meredith was this and so much more to many people.

Meredith was born in East Orange, New Jersey to the late Benjamin and Doris Frye. She attended school in Newark, Delaware, and resided in Plymouth Meeting, PA for over 50 years with her husband Dennis.

In 1963, she married Dennis, and together they had 4 wonderful children, who in turn gave them 4 beautiful grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Her kids’ friends and her grandkids’ friends were, to her, her children as well. She made no distinction between friends and family, she took care of them as if they were her own. Meredith lived life to the fullest, and always had gratitude and thoughtfulness in her heart. She was active in many things, and gave freely of herself and her time.

An avid golfer and tennis player, she also loved knitting with her friends. She volunteered with the Whitemarsh Jr. Women's Club, Plymouth Elementary PTO, drove cancer patients to treatments, and helped train assistance dogs. As a lover of nature, especially animals, she helped at her friend’s pet rescue, Delaware Puppy Rescue.

Meredith was also a staunch supporter of education. She graduated from Penn Hall as a medical secretary and University of Pennsylvania as a registered dental hygienist. She loved getting calls from her children saying “Look, Mom - No Cavities!” after their checkups, even well into adulthood!

Her (and Dennis’) love of learning was passed on to her family. It was rare to see her without a stack of books nearby. She loved reading to her grandkids.

She was also a local businesswoman and craftsman, running her business, Mer-Lyn, making personalized gifts. Many may fondly remember receiving monogramed towels. She was also an artisan, a trait that has been passed down to her children and grandchildren.

There is so much to be said about Meredith, so much that it would take a small novella to list it all. She was fiercely loyal, and doing the right thing was always important to her. Unfailingly supportive, she was always there to help a friend in need, and found great joy in spending time with friends and family.

Meredith is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Frye, her mother, Doris Hamilton Frye, her brother Larry Frye, and her sister Margaret Grundy. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years, Dennis Conlan; children Kent (& Rachel) Conlan, Brad (& Betsy) Conlan, Megan Conlan, Wade (& Willa) Conlan; grandchildren Padraic Conlan, Gretchen Conlan, Ryan Conaty, Katie Conaty; great-grandchild Alaina Skinner, several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will be hosting Meredith’s Celebration of Life on Friday, September 17th from 12:30 to 3:00 pm at The Club at Shannondell in Audubon, PA.  Family, friends, and loved ones are welcome to join in remembering Meredith as Mer, a Wife, a Mom, an Oma, an Aunt, and a Friend.
