Obituary of E. Eugene Bechtel

E. Eugene Bechtel, age 92, of Collegeville, PA passed away on August 30, 2021.  

He was born in Trappe, PA on October 12, 1928, the son of the late Earl & Margaret (Keeley) Bechtel.

Gene was a member of the Class of 1946 of the former Collegeville Trappe High School.  

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy and later actively served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.  

Gene worked for Bell Telephone for 30 years.  He then was an Artist, Framer and Conservator of oil paintings which were his true passion.  He owned and operated Greenwood Studio since 1963.   

Gene is survived by his wife, Sally (Boyer) Bechtel, daughter, Cynthia (& R. Scott) Ziegler, granddaughter, Stacy Harp (& David Harp, Jr.), grandson, Ryan (& Marissa) Ziegler, and great grandchildren, Declan, Breccan, Esme, Nora, and Elton.   

Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn "Kitty" (Ruth) Bechtel and his sister Anna Evelyn Bechtel Landes. 

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM from the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main Street, Trappe, PA 19426.  

Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  

Interment will take place in Augustus Lutheran Church Cemetery, Trappe, PA.
