Marilyn was my mother-in-law, and she forever shattered the proverbial 'hateful, unsupporting, meddling, and manipulative mother-in-law' stereotype beyond all recognition. She was always there, through thick-and-thin, fully faithful and passionately protective throughout the many years of our lovingly happy relationship. Her humor, stick-to-it-iveness, and strong sense of right and wrong were central tenets that she used to keep us all on an even keel, especially when it truly counted. She was always there, willing to lend a helping hand, a warm embrace, and a knowing smile, all while sharing her sage advice.
All the grandkids called her 'Grams.' She and her dear late husband, 'Bob,' or to all the kids, 'Mops,' were always the early-to-rise and actively involved grandparents. Vacations in Vermont brought marvelously good times to all, where not a day went by that wasn't planned out, kid-centric, and full of sporting activities, imaginative games, and honestly good times.
I imagine that she and Mops are now slow-dancing, cheek-to-cheek again, with knowing smiles on their glowing faces, as they warmly embrace each other in the presence of all their perfected friends and family members, held fast in the peaceful joy of Jesus and all His eternal saints.
Time is exceedingly short for all of us who remain. We too will be reunited in due time, where there will no longer be pain, age, or the fleeting fears and worries of this passing world.
The LORD [YHWH] redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.
- Psalm 34:22 (NKJV)
Precious in the sight of the LORD [YHWH]
Is the death of His saints.
- Psalm 116:15 (NKJV)
“Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed;
Neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame;
For you will forget the shame of your youth,
And will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore."
- Isaiah 54:4 (NKJV)
I will call upon the LORD [YHWH], who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
- 2 Samuel 22:4; and Psalm 18:3 (NKJV)
