Sophie Compton    

Sophie (Firuta) Compton, 98, of Plymouth Meeting, PA, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.

She had been living in Philadelphia, PA.

She was born in Schwenksville, PA, in 1923, the daughter of the late Michael and the late Pauline (Machaeliski) Firuta.

Sophie graduated from Bridgeport High School and worked for Philip Carey Manufacturing in Plymouth Meeting.

During World War II, she enlisted in the WAVES service, which was the women's branch of the US Naval Reserve, and was stationed in Anacostia, DC.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed knitting and gardening.

She was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Norristown, PA.

She was the wife of the Late Raymond Compton for 71 years.

Survivors include Daughter Carol Falicki of Birdsboro, PA, and Daughter Claudia Findley of Manheim, PA.  Also survived by her 9 grandchildren: Brenda Kane, Phil Nigro, Jamie Compton, Laura Magliane, Natalie Gagliano, Katie Compton, Raymond Compton, Jr., James Falicki, Jr., and Christina Falicki.

Along with her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son Raymond Compton, Jr.

Her service and interment will be private.
