Obituary of Thomas Edward Albany

Thomas E. Albany, age 33, of Windsor, CO passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 10, 2021.

 

He was born in Phoenixville, PA on July 2, 1988, the son of Thomas  J. and Donna  K. (Ruggiero) Albany.

 

Tom has been living in Colorado for 5 years, formerly of Lafayette, IN and Westerville, OH.  Tom graduated in2007 from St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, OH where he was a standout LaCrosse and Football player. 

 

After high school, he went on to graduate from THE Ohio State University in 2011 with a degree in Security and Intelligence. While there, he was a proud member and President of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. 

 

Tom honorably and proudly served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army National Guard for 14 years.  He began his Guard experience in Ohio, moving to Indiana, and lastly to Colorado, serving in all three states.  Thomas was a Combat Veteran that deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan as part of the 1413th ENCO out of Franklin, Indiana. 

 

Thomas was a proud Eagle Scout. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, loved history, and was the king of all things trivia. His devotion to his Catholic faith was at his core. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, whose strong and unwavering faith was inspiring to all who witnessed it. 

 

His joy of life, infectious smile, his vibrant personality, and his big heart (and voice) were only second to his love of God, family and Country. The joy that was Tom E. Albany will bring smiles to all who knew and loved him. 

  

He is survived by his parents, Thomas J. and Donna K. Albany of Westerville, OH; 

siblings, Caitlin Albany of Conshohocken, PA, Brian (& Alyssa) Albany of Lewis Center, OH,  Gracie Albany of Columbus, OH, and his beloved black lab Lucy.

 

He is also survived by his nephew, Brennan, two nieces, Annie and Emma, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.  

 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday December 28th  at  10:30AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 313 N. State Street, Westerville, OH  43082.  Relatives and friends may call from 9:00AM - 10:30AM at the church. 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday January 4th at 10:30AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd, Glen Mills, PA 19342.  Relatives and friends may call from 9:30AM-10:15AM at the Church.  

 

Interment will take place in St. Thomas the Apostle Church Cemetery, Glen Mills, PA.  

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' name to: 3rd & Goal Foundation, a foundation that helps veterans in need.
