Obituary of Joanne Judith Moser

Joanne Judith Moser (Mastascusa)

Joanne passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021 after a courageous and graceful fight to recover from several health setbacks.  Her five children were with her at Avow Hospice in Naples for her final days.

Joanne was the only daughter and the middle of three children born on January 10, 1941 to Nicolo and Thelma Mastascusa (Lutz) in Pittsburgh, PA.  Joanne valued family above all else and gave of herself to those she loved without limitation.  Being surrounded by friends and family, making people laugh, hosting dinner parties and giving back to her community brought her the most joy. Joanne will be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit, intelligence, and a way of making everyone feel special.

As a musician and pianist, Joanne shared her talent through teaching, voice and choral direction for decades, most notably at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in Medford, NJ.  Joanne tirelessly gave to her community in other ways as well. She volunteered as a singer, actor and choral director in community theater in Medford, NJ, she sang to residents in senior care communities, she donated her time to adults with disabilities and as a support mentor at St. Agnes Catholic Church, volunteered in the soup kitchen at St. Matthews House in Naples and most recently with Avow Hospice as a Serenity Singer and as a home visitor, allowing time for caregivers to recharge.

She is survived by her five children, Mike Moser (Denine), Karl Moser, Melissa Riley (Tim), Jennifer Moser (Eric), and Nicole Boyd (Todd), and eleven grandchildren, Wesley Moser, Megan Sullivan, Calvin Moser, Grace Sullivan, Sean Sullivan, Phoenix Boyd, Brody Moser, Morgan Riley, Sawyer Moser, Erin Riley and Rain Boyd.  Also surviving are her brother James Mastascusa and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.  Joanne is preceded in death by her parents as well as her brother Ed Mastascusa.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Moore, Snear & Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main St., Trappe, PA 19426.  Joanne's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday morning from 10:00am to 11:00 am at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Music Therapy Program at Avow Hospice, Naples, FL.
