Carol and Neal, Gary and I are so very sorry for your loss of Jason. Carol we've been friends since 2004 and I cherish our friendship very much. Over the years of the four of us getting together and enjoying eachothers company. We know how much you cherished and loved both your sons. I wish I would have gotten to know Christopher and Jason much better than just in short spirts. Even though the spirts were short, I love Jason and Chris because their a part of the two of you. My heartbreaks for you and Neal. And for all those lives he touched. May he be at peace and with his family at God's side. We love you both. Gary and Barb

When I first started mountain biking Jason was a rider I knew to be a local expert. I admired his fearless attitude. He witnessed Shane and I get married at Mt. Penn and we have video of him hugging each of us and sharing champagne. He was never afraid to "send it". He always put a lot of time in at Mt Penn doing trail maintenance so that the riding community had flow throughout the trails. His signature JD carving on the ends of the tree stumps will be missed. Rest in peace Jason. With Love, The McEldorney's

The first time I met Jason, I was pushing my bike up Mt Penn and he pulled over in his truck and offered me a ride. I was new to the trails and he took me under his wing, showing me all the best trails and lines and introducing me to the local riding community. Over the years, Jason showed himself to be a true friend. Not only was he always down for a ride and a beer afterwards, but he was the first to offer his truck for shuttles, his digging and chainsaw skills on the trails, and his beer for the tailgating. When I had to get surgery and was unable to ride for months, Jason drove well out of his way to pick me up and take me to lunch at a local brewery. When my mother-in-law was injured with a broken neck in a car accident, he regularly checked in to see how she was recovering, having had a broken neck himself. That's the kind of guy Jason was: thoughtful, generous, kind-hearted, and genuinely caring. I am so grateful to have known Jason, and though we will all miss him immensely, I know that I and many others will cherish the fond memories we have of all the good times we shared with him. Love ya brother. I'll see you in the woods you loved to roam.

I have bumped into Jason happily many times riding Local trails, joyous days laughing about digging on Spring, conversations about good breweries, my abilities as a rider, jamming out to punk rock while working on the crazy trails at Spring. He helped me progress as a rider and never made me feel bad for being novice. He was one of the most down-to-earth people I have ever had the pleasure of hanging out with and i am so thankful to have had the moments that i did with him. This loss is incredibly painful for the mountain biking community as a whole.

I am so sorry for your loss. I met Jason on the unfortunate day his brother passed and had no clue that this man would become my greatest friend. I helped Jason rehab through all of his various injuries and he always amazed me by the fact he would always come back stronger. He motivated myself and others to always fight thier way through all the challenges life throws at us. Over the years, Jason became like a big brother to me. I faced challenges with a chronic illness, divorce, my son being molested at a daycare and many other dark days. Jason would drag me out on the bike and say, "just ride man, it will get better". He was always right. I genuinely loved this guy and was greatful for his kind and loving spirit. In many ways he saved my life. I want his family to know how much he was loved and the impact he had on so many lives. The mountain bike community and the world lost a great soul. He was truly a great man and may his memory live on and bring eternal life to the name Jason D. Hallman. Love and miss you. Enjoy that trail in the sky, Your friend, Ben Claus

I moved to PA in 2018, and the very first ride I ever did on Penn was with a big shuttle crew and of course Jason was part of it and was excited to show me his favorite spots on the mountain. Over the years I bumped into Jason EVERYWHERE. Penn, Blue, Spring, whether it was sessioning, riding, racing, digging, Jason was there with a smile on his face and stoke to spread. A massive blowdown came down on one of my favorite trails on Penn, and I asked if anyone with a large bar saw could cut it out since, I didn’t have the gear for it. Jason had it gone the next day. I repaid him with a growler and we sat in my driveway, drank IPAs and talked about punk rock for an hour. Just an awesome guy, and this community won’t be the same without him.

Simply put, Jason was a great guy and friend to many. His love for riding was infectious and was always down for a session. He had a great passion for building trails and it showed through his work. I can remember races where he’d give you that bit of encouragement you needed when you were questioning a certain section of the course. We are all better for having known him. Ride on my friend.

I met Jason in the glory days of Mt. Penn. He could be found riding his bike, doing trail work with his chainsaw, having a parking lot beer, or most likely all three. Jason always a down to earth attitude and a willingness to help others, character traits that I believe everyone recognized and admired. His positivity radiated around the mountain bike community of which he was a crucial part. Jason you will be missed but not forgotten.

I remember one of the first times I met him was actually probably not the best memory, but he had crashed at mount penn and broke his leg, we were trying to get him down the mountain and the whole time he had like the best attitude. "I'm fine guys, no worries - it doesn't even hurt that bad" and we were like uhhhhhhhhhh, you're probably not fine but you'll be ok! In the years after that I would always chat with him at the races. I just saw him at the Floduro at Lars house, had no idea that would be the last time, but he had big smile all day. He was a positive force at the race track or local trails, always with a smile on his face, cracking jokes. Like most of you, I wish I had more trail time with the guy. Ride on Jason, see you on the other side...

For many years I heard stories of the legendary Jason Hallman. I was fortunate enough to meet him 2 years ago at the bonfire at the Shirk's house. I spent most of that night talking to him and kept in touch after via text. Any time our paths would cross in person, we talked like we knew each other for a decade. He was a true gem of a person. A pillar in the mountain bike community. He will be missed by SO many. Shred big jumps in the sky buddy! Till we meet again.....<3

Jason was an amazing nephew, son, brother, and friend. We remember the love he had for each of us. He was a kind and gentle person and his love for his family and friends was a top priority. He was always there for us. His dedication and desire to excel in mountain bike racing and extreme sports was an example of his hard work, dedication, determination, and commitment. His life on earth may be over and now joins his loved ones as life in heaven just begins. How lucky we were to have him in our lives. He will be missed but not forgotten and forever in our hearts. Love You Jason RIP
