Obituary of Johan E. Grant

Johan E. (Gigax) Grant, 85, formerly of East Norriton, PA passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022.

She was born in Sacramento, California on September 30, 1936, the daughter of the late Kenneth Earl and Ethelwyn Veronica “Judy” (Zihlman) Gigax.

Johan grew up in California and Alaska. At the age of 21, while visiting Pennsylvania, her exotic looks, and beautiful smile captured the eye and heart of one Paul E. Grant … and the rest is history.

Johan leaves behind her five children: Brian Grant (Laureen), P. Colleen Perez (Noel, deceased), Johan Moran (Robert, deceased), Maureen Grant-De Lucia (Thomas) and Paul Grant (Monica), 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Holly and Kathleen Miller and many beloved nieces and nephews.  Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Georgia Lee Owen and Patricia Bornstein.

Johan strived for excellence in all that she did. She was known for creating delicious meals from cherished Gigax family recipes, beautifully decorated cakes, cookies, and candies. She delighted in making every holiday, especially Christmas, magical. While raising her children she also enjoyed helping foster children, being a champion bowler and a competitive scrabble player. She was a lover of the arts, especially music and poetry. In addition to being a mom and homemaker, she worked for Manpower, Inc as an assistant manager and eventually, manager.

Johan will be fondly remembered for her indomitable spirit, infectious laughter,  and ordering the “freshest” cup of coffee, as only she could do, from diners, restaurants and coffee shops throughout Montgomery County, PA.

Her Memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:30 AM from St. Titus RC Church, 3006 Keenwood Road, East Norriton, PA. Friends may call on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 9:30-10:15 AM at the church.

Interment will take place in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.
