Obituary of Vincent T. Improto, Sr.

Vincent T. Improto, Sr., age 93, of Pottstown, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 after a brief illness.

He was born in Conshohocken, PA on November 5, 1929, the son of the late Vincenzo (James) and Anna (Vitale) Improto.

Vince, formerly of Trooper PA, has been living in Pottstown for four years.  He was a member of Visitation BVM Church.  He started his career with Peoples Cleaners in Norristown, PA before he became a Truck Driver working for Coca-Cola Inc. He then spent most of his career as an member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and Official of Teamsters Local 830 and Member of Joint Council 53.  After retiring from the Local he worked in transportation and as a counselor for Valley Forge Rehabilitation Hospital before finally retiring at age 89 with Eagleville Hospital.   He honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 32 years and served in Korea from 1948 to 1952.  He was an active member of the VFW Post 7155 of Trappe, PA.

He was the devoted husband of 51 years marriage to the late Gladys L. (Whitaker) Improto.

Along with his wife and parents, Vince was preceded in death by his siblings, Rose Piazza, Jerry Improto, and Margaret Gambone.

Vince spent his entire life helping others.  He was a devoted husband, loving father and an amazing grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.  He made friends everywhere he went with his sense of humor and easy going way.  He loved to travel and in his later years would travel around to military bases all over the world just to pay his respects to the troops serving our country.

He enjoyed hunting with his sons, breakfast with his friends, going to the gym, playing bocci and he enjoyed watching old movies.  He was always on the go and remained active up until the end of his life.  He was an amazing man who will be missed by many.
