Obituary of Earle B. Mercadante
Earle B. Mercadante, “Mr. Merc” ”Herculino” age 81, of Plymouth Meeting, PA passed away peacefully the morning of Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 2, 1942, the son of the late William and Dora (Salutoria) Mercadante.
Earle was a proud self-taught Mechanical Engineer having his highest education being that of 8th grade. He was very respected in his trade and his career focused on working in Pharmaceutical Plants.
Since 1972 and life ongoing, he was a devoted supporter of Little League Baseball, holding many positions from President to Executive Board Member to Coach to Umpire and so on. In 1994, he served as the PA District 22 Administrator and loved attending the Little League World Series in Williamsport where he made many beloved lifelong friends dear to him. In 2007, he was inducted into the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame. Although he tried to retire twice, his heart was always with this game and the community of Plymouth Township.
He was also a veteran of the Army Reserves PFC E2.
He was a devoted member of the St. Paul’s Community, opening the church to organize the pew booklets and giving daily readings. He has a strong faith. He also loved being in the sun all day and attending to his gardens especially those onions and having the best lawn in town. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards and memorabilia over many years for his house museum.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor M. Mercadante (nee Eisner), and two of their three children, April Mercadante and William Mercadante. His youngest beloved son Eric Mercadante passed in 2021. He is also survived by five siblings, Joseph, George, Marguerite, Wilma, and Ria. And his one granddaughter who was his whole heart, Mia.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM from St. Paul's RC Church, 2007 New Hope Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Monday morning from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Church.
Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
